PR: President signs key law for the cryptocurrency industry

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, has signed a landmark law today that will significantly impact the local cryptocurrency industry. This new legislation aligns tax rules for cryptocurrencies, establishes a stable regulatory framework, and implements the European MiCA regulation in a way that fosters innovation and growth across the sector. With this move, the Czech Republic becomes a gateway to Europe for cryptocurrency and blockchain projects from around the world.

The Czech Cryptocurrency Association (ČKMA), which has long advocated for equal conditions for businesses in the Czech Republic, played a pivotal role in drafting this legislation and consistently highlighted the benefits of cryptocurrencies to the domestic economy. “Just a few years ago, these proposals would have been unthinkable. Today, they have received unanimous support from lawmakers. This unprecedented political unity is the result of immense effort not only by our association but by the entire Czech crypto community, which we successfully united,” said František Vinopal, chairman of the Czech Cryptocurrency Association, which has been involved in the proposal’s development from the beginning.

The new legislation introduces the right for cryptocurrency companies to access bank accounts if they pass the licensing process. It also sets clear rules for taxing cryptocurrency transactions and ensures long-term stability and predictability for entrepreneurs in the industry—changes that the cryptocurrency sector has been striving for for many years.

“Cryptocurrencies are not only a technological trend, but a key part of the future Czech economy. This sector has the potential to generate significant revenue for the state budget and create hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs. Moreover, Czechia can become an innovation hub for the European Union,” Vinopal added.

The Czech Republic is emerging as a leader in the cryptocurrency and blockchain fields. As a result of close cooperation between the cryptocurrency and political spheres, Czech cryptocurrency exchanges, trading platforms, software and hardware companies can continue to develop this industry and set the direction for all of Europe. The Association expects that these positive changes will draw promising foreign companies, which are attracted by the favorable legal environment, technological know-how, and experts available. The Czech Cryptocurrency Association aims to stand as a partner for companies looking to enter the European market.
